Introduction

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has organised Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination for recruitment to the posts of Data Entry Operator and Lower Division Clerks for which 12th Standard Pass or  equivalent is the minimum qualification. The Examination will comprise of a Written  Objective Type Examination followed by Data Entry Skill Test / Typing Test .

Eligibility

1. Nationality/ Citizenship: A candidate must be either: 

(a) a citizen of India, or 

(b) a subject of Nepal, or 

(c) a subject of Bhutan, or 

(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or 

(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.


2.Age Limit: A candidate must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 27 years as on 01-08-2013, for Data Entry Operator and Lower Division Clerk (i.e. he/she must have born not earlier than 02-08-1986 and not later than 01-08-1995).

3. Educational Qualification: Candidates Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent or higher examination from a recognised Board or University.


Note-I: As per Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification No. 44 dated 01-03-1995 published in Gazette of India edition dated 08-04-1995, the Degree obtained through open Universities/ Distance Education Mode needs to be recognized by Distance Education Council, IGNOU. Accordingly, unless such Degrees had been recognized for the period when the candidates acquired the relevant qualification, they will not be 

accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.


Examination

Scheme of Examination: The examination will consist of a Written Examination and Skill Test for the post of Data Entry Operator and Written Test and Typing Test for the post of Lower Division Clerk on Computer. 

Written Examination: The Paper will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi for Part-I, III & IV. 

The written examination will consist of one objective type paper as shown below :

Note-I: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions. 

Note-II: Candidates must write the papers/indicate the answers in their own hand. The ovals on page-1 and page-2 of the OMR answer sheet should be marked with black/blue ball point pen.

B. Skill Test for Data Entry Operator: The Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on Computer will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words key depressions as per the given passage and the duration of the said Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The “Data Entry Speed” Skill Test would be of qualifying nature. Candidates allowed to take this test, will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, to be provided by the Commission or the agency authorized by the Commission to conduct such skill test at the Centre/venue so notified. 

Note-I: Only those candidates who secure at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination, as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will be called for skill test. The Commission may also at its discretion, fix qualifying marks in each component of the written examination. 

C. Typing Test for LDCs: Typing Test will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the Written Examination. Such Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form. The choice of language in the application will be final and no change will be allowed. Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute and those opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes. Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be allowed 30 minutes.


Note-I :35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. corresponds to 10500 key depressions per hour/9000 key depressions per hour respectively.

continue with Part-2 Registration, an email will be delivered on your email ID after the completion of Part-2 Registration.


Copy of email and Challan must be retained for further use. 

Institutes

Staff Selection Commission (SSC)  is an Indian organization to recruit staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices.

This commission is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which consists of Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations.

The Estimates Committee of the Parliament recommended the setting up of a Service Selection Commission in its 47th report(1967-68) for conducting examinations for recruitment to lower categories of posts. Later, in the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, On 4 November 1975 Government of India constituted a Commission called the Subordinate Services Commission. On 26 September 1977, Subordinate Services Commission renamed into Staff Selection Commission.
