Hans Raj College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and a premier institution of the DAV Managing Committee - the largest non-government educational organization of the country. The college was founded by the D.A.V. College Managing Committee on July 26, 1948 in the memory of the educator Mahatama Hans Raj. It is today one of the D.A.V. group of over 700 institutions and one of the largest constituent colleges of University of Delhi. There are over 3700 students studying in the various courses offered by the college [citation needed]. Hans Raj College was ranked among the Top-10 colleges of India in 2010- 2012. For the next six years the college functioned from the cramped premises of the DAV school on Chitra gupta Road. The University subsequently under Sir Maurice Gwyer’s scheme of building university campus gave the college a grant of two lakhs of rupees and fifteen acres of land that now houses the present premises of the college. It was only in 1953, five years after the college had been established that Shri Bakshi Tek Chand, the Chairman of the Governing Body laid the foundation stone of the college. The construction of the building was done by Northern Constructions, New Delhi under the supervision of Shri T R Mahendru the architect.

Admission Procedure : Each displayed admission list usually remains valid for THREE days AFTER the display date. All students (from within the published merit list) reporting for admission during this 3-day period will be admitted. Admissions are NOT on first-come-first-served basis. During this 3-day period, admission seekers will fill-up final admission/enrolment forms, attach all original certificates with attested photo-copies thereof, and pay the stipulated fee (cash or demand darft) at the College bank. All original certificates (sans Class X date-of-birth certificate) shall be returned to the candidate immediately upon the payment of admission fee in full. Admission fee details shall be provided at the time of publication of the admission schedule. All students who figure in the merit list and proceed on to take admission to the College, are required to buy a copy of the latest College PROSPECTUS. The prospectus is usually made available in the first week of June every year. It contains at least one admission form, and additional admission forms can be purchased separately. Candidates' presence IN PERSON is essential for admission purposes. Proxy admissions are NOT permitted. One of the parents/local guardians is also required to sign the final admission application. All RESERVED CATEGORY students MUST POSSESS the necessary RESERVATION CATEGORY certificate (and its attested copy) and duly deposit the same at the time of admission. 


Campus:

Hans Raj College is located in the North Campus of Delhi University (DU), Hans Raj College is situated right at the end of the campus and is pretty far from the main gate of the university. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyala (Yes, the name of the station is because of the university and thus one can under stand how famous and reputed the campus is) on the Yellow Line and is a minute walk from the main gate of the campus.

Hans Raj College campus isn't large but has a beautiful green garden which is maintained up-to-date. There is enough parking space for two wheeler. The college building looks neat and clean and so are the classrooms. Wooden benches are comfortable and fans run all round the year.Labs and library are air-conditioned and have apparatuses and books available sufficiently. Sadly, the campus isn't Wi-Fi enabled.

Hostel Facilities:

The college provides hostel facility for boys only where the rental charges around Rs. 50,000 per year. Students have to share the rooms and the facilities are pretty decent. The Hostel is located within the campus of Hans Raj College.Delhi Hans Raj College is a constituent, largest & extended college of the University of Delhi and is situated in the north campus near Malkaganj. Hostel Common Room is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. It shall remain closed between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The Hostel also provides Meals facility for students.Meals are prepared according to Indian taste as per the menu decided by the Mess Secretary in consultation with the residents.

Library Facilities:

The expansive College Library is housed in the center of the campus in an exclusive building designed for the purpose. Plans are underway to connect the library building with the main college building through an upper floor corridor. The library comprises four sections: the Main Library, individual Departmental Libraries (Sciences), the Periodicals and the Text Book Sections.Together, all the sections of our library display a rich collection of more than 1, 35,000 titles and about 98 periodicals published in India and abroad.  The Library provides a book-bank facility too for lending text books to needy & deserving students for a period of one year at a stretch. Internet facility is now available for students inside the library premises itself. Searching/referencing of titles is now almost totally computerized. Complete computerization of the Library is almost nearing completion.

Canteen Facilities:

The College canteen is one of the liveliest areas of the campus. It is spread over 375 meters and accommodates about 150 users. Staff members and the students share the canteen with separate and common sitting areas. Our canteen aims at providing a variety of quality food & beverages at highly competitive rates. A multi-product retail outlet of Nestle is also functional adjacent to the main canteen building. The overall administration of the Canteen is under the supervision of a Canteen Committee drawn by the College Staff Council.

Placement Facilities:

Hans Raj is definitely one of the best colleges in the North Campus, one of the reasons behind it being its awesome placements.Big MNC’s like Ernst & Young (E&Y), Deloitte, KPMG and many more visits the college campus and recruit students from the commerce and economic department. The average pay package is roughly around 3-4 lakhs per annum and almost 80% of the students get placed. The College provides placement facility for all students for this College have a Career Net Programme. Career Net Consulting is coming for a single placement exam called Pep Biz-Where this exam will provide opportunity to be placed in a large number of MNC's and Large Indian Corporations like ICICI, KOTAK, HDFC, Deutsche bank, Myntra.com & Omega Health Care
